While preparing this post, my son said, "Mom, who took that picture of you?" Alas, it was not me, but this picture:
I do like Pam a whole lot, so I take it as a compliment, even though Pam has had her share of bad hair days. (As have I.)
When I was younger, everyone thought my twin was in The Last of the Mohicans. You know--the girl who jumps off a cliff. (Sorry if that was a spoiler for anyone, but hello! That was 1992.)
In case you didn't know me back then, or forgot what I looked like before I had wrinkles and padding, here's me, circa fall 1991:
I'm the one in the yellow, in case you couldn't tell. And don't be scared that we were two decades behind in style; we dressed up for a Flower-Power dance.
You would think that since Jodhi May from Last of the Mohicans looked like me then, she would look like either me or Pam (Jenna Fischer) now, but there's no resemblance. However, I didn't realize until now that Jodhi May is the Jewish girl in Daniel Deronda. When I watched it, I remember thinking that she looked like she could have been one of my relatives, who are not Jewish.
How does it happen that there are look-a-likes all around the world with no blood relation? And have you ever wondered if other people have lived in previous centuries who looked a lot like you? (ala the Nicolas Cage vampire story.)
In case you are thinking I've been visiting Montana's "green" pharmacies and you don't want to discuss celebrity look-a-likes, I will offer you another aspect of the topic to discuss. Who do you take after the most: your mom or dad or ever a grandparent? If you have children, who do they take after the most: you or your spouse? Anyone know how it happens when families have cookie cutter kids and other families have kids who barely look like siblings? Sometimes it's fun to think about genes more than just in this manner:

Hey there Lori, I love this! I did it on my blog for my entire family one year!
So I can't give you a pic, so don't know how to but if you look up Fairuza Balk, you'll see a very distinct resemblence. However that being said my husband thinks I look like Dagmara Domińczyk and Kate Beckinsale (only the vampire version)...there you go! Have fun with it :D
We must be related or something because people tell me I look like Pam too. I'll take it. I love Pam!
I didn't think I came from a cookie cutter family but there were always people growing up who couldn't tell us apart... and even still. People tell me all the time I look just like Julie, Heather, or Katie. I think we look like sisters but not exactly alike.
My kids all look different but related. Reese looks the most like his dad of any of my boys. He has looked like a little mini Steve pretty much from day one. I can see both mine and Steve's families in pretty much all of our kids. People who know Steve's family always tell me Maggie looks just like his sisters did growing up but people tell me all the time she looks just like me. Funny how kids can do that huh?
Thanks for the laughs! This was great reading. Look-a-likes...no celebrity look-a-like here. I do however take after my mom, looks, same laugh, loud voice, yep I am my momma's girl. Oh except I am left handed. Just me, no other lefties in our family. Weird huh?
My kiddos, Chase looks like me to a certain degree. The other two definitely look like my hubby. Genes are a cool thing! As I research our family tree, I am always looking at what genes passed on and thanking God for some of those that didn't. lol! Have a good one!
No celebrity look alike here...but I constantly get the "you look like my sister in law" or "you look like my friend" or "you remind me of someone" I guess I have one of those faces.

The only person I've ever been told I looked like is Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie. I don't see any resemblance so I"m going to move on to the other question. I think I take after both of my parent's pretty equally. I look like my mom and my personality is pretty split down the middle. I have my mom's OCD traits, (ask Eli or Steve about how I line up groceries when I check out. I have my dad's sense of humor and stubbornness.
Everyone tells me I look just like my mom. My sister looks a lot like my mom and my dad. And I think my brother favors my mom.
Someone once told me I remind them of Burnadette Peters (Rooster's blonde girlfriend in "Annie), but at least when I was younger, I looked a lot more like Annie herself (Aileen Quinn). My hair isn't quite that orange, but I do have a lot of freckles (fine by me), and contrary to the wishes of some fashion-conscious people, I still like to wear red despite my red hair ; ).
But my favorite look-alike experience was the time a little girl whom I was babysitting asked me, "How come you look like the Little Mermaid?" Could have just been the seashells I was wearing though...(just kidding!).
I love being told I look like Anne of Green Gables (Megan Follows).
As for family resemblance I take more after my dad's side, as does one of my brothers. The other two look more like my mom's side. Brent I looked so much alike as kids that we were asked if we were twins, which I didn't appreciate, being three years older. But then we had a professor in a college class who thought we were married. Go figure.
Everyone tells us Olivia looks just like us. She does. She looks a lot more like us than she does her birth parents.
My kids don't really look alike,but they sure share characteristics with their cousins, and my siblings. I'll see something that my daughter did or said that looked just like my brother.They will have a look that reminds me of one of their cousins. Weird.
Kate: Holy cow, you could be Fairuza's stunt double. She IS your twin. You look like the beautiful Dagmara as well: we just watched the Count of MC the other day.
Anne: how funny, when I first saw The Office, I thought Pam looked like Julie. We'll have to have a Pam look-a-like contest at the reunion. I'll put my money on grandpa.
Edgertons: I think Ans looks just like you! Bad genes would make a wonderful topic for next week!
Livingstons: You DO have one of those faces: the kind that brings fond memories of loved ones. I think it has something to do with that beautiful smile of yours.
Nicole: I kind of see the Jeannie connection. You need to practice winking and show me this summer.I think you and your sister look like twins. Does anyone ever say that?

Sally: I can see it! Anne of GG is so cute! (Like you!) I think it is incredible how adopted children fit right in just like they were meant to be apart of that family. AMAZING!
Team C: I love watching for cousin resemblances. It's interesting how kids can act and sound the same as their cousins who live hundreds of miles away. Can you imagine being a grandparent and trying to keep everyone's names right? I have a hard enough time with my 5!
What an adorable flower child you were! Despite being born too late to have really been one. Can't deny you do look like Pam.
The only person I've been accused of looking like is Jeanne Tripplehorn, which is kind of unfortunate, since she usually plays the sleezy other woman roles. Til There Was You was kinda cute, but she was still a bit sleezy.

There was also the person that tried to accuse me of looking like Karen Carpenter, but he was just plain wrong, although we do both have brown hair.
I get this all the time...my twin is the sweet and funny Barbara Bush. The more time I spend on this planet, the more I feel like I really do look like her.
I think my #1 and #3 kids look A LOT like me. During those extremely rare conversations when someone says, "_ _ _ _ _ _ looks soooo much like your husband" I lose a lot of trust in their judgment and opinion.
My #2 ACTS a lot like me. For instance, this morning #2 told me to make a sandwich for him/her. I reminded him/her of the kind word that inspires me to help. He/she repeated the request, this time with the courtesy I expected. Then I gently said, "Sometimes I think you like to boss me around." He/she replied, "Sometimes I think YOU like to boss me around. Treat others the way you want to be treated" (I do say that frequently). Hmmmmm. Kids have a way of giving you a different perspective, don't they?

Nope, I've never been told we look like twins. Although, my 87 y/o grandmother can't tell us apart... She keeps talking to me about Russia and to my sister about Utah. I judge her a little for it- My hair is chopped pretty short right now and (up until the last three months) always an extreme color and definitely not my natural one, while my sister never colors her hair.
Sigrid Thornton (man from snowy river) was my look alike when I was younger. Not so much now, though there are a few things I wouldn't mind haveing like her...
now I only get asked if I am Julies "older" sister, I guess it helps to have a look a like Pam out there to keep you younger looking.
As far as my kids go, they are Bakers. Joseph is the only one that I have ever been told looks like my side.
I have been told I look like an extinct actress by the name of Ingrid Bergman(At least she got to kiss Cary Grant!). I have also been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball, because I was the class clown. I get a lot of "Oh, My Gosh" you remind me of my bet friend growing up, or you look like a friend I used to know. Who ever I am, I love myself (most of the time). As I get older I can certainly see my older sisters in the mirror. So, who am I exactly????
When I was growing my bangs out one summer, I thought I looked like Hugh Grant. I think that's the only famous person I've resembled! I think I look like my mom and I hear her voice coming from me. A lot of people think my younger sister is my twin. I love that, but I'm sure she isn't thrilled about it!

PaulaShawn: your number #3 does have your hubby's mouth, so people aren't that delusional on that one. As for #1: maybe it's the hair. Have him grow his out long like yours and people with see the resemblance.
