Have Sun, Will Travel

Did everyone have a fabulous Fourth? We were super excited to have the sun as a visitor at the festivities this weekend. He can come hang out around here anytime. It's so nice to see color on everyone's skin: we look a lot less Carlisle Cullen-ish.

Folkmans before the holiday:

Folkmans after the holiday:

Much better.

We had one minor tragedy during our celebration.  A water bomb blew a hole in our kiddie pool. But not to worry, hubby reassured me that he can patch the hole with duct tape. Yes, we are redneck wannabes.

So here's what I've been thinking about lately: if money and time were not an object, where would you vacation this summer?  Since I lack both money and time, I won't be taking any big trips. But if I could, I would head to Californ-I-A. First I would take the kids to Disneyland, SeaWorld, and the beach, then I would leave the kids with the (nonexistent) nanny while I head to Hollywood to hunt down Ben Wilder.

What? You don't know who Ben Wilder is? Holy cow. Where've you been? You can read about him here

(That's me in the red bikini. I'm lookin good, aren't I? I went on a serious diet after last week's whale post.)

This week's comment thread should include the following:
Where would you take a dream vacation this summer? And why would you choose said destination?

And ... for bonus points: What do you think Ben Wilder looks like? If you can give me a description of how you picture Ben Wilder, I will enter your screen name four more times, quadrupling your chance to win.

Since it's summer and we're all away from the computer, I'm extending the window. The comment thread will close Thursday evening and I will post the winner on Friday. Ready, set, go!

My dream vacation would be to go hit up New Zealand. Both Steve and I want to go and check out all of the spots where they've filmed for The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. It's so pretty there and a chopper ride would be pretty awesome too!

Well, since I still have little ones, and I'm a"little one" at heart...i would go to Disney World for TWO PLUS weeks. I would stay on Disney property at their nicest resort. And since we're there for so long (and money is no concern)...we could take our time at at theme parks, water parks, hotel resorts, neighboring Universal parks, visit the space shuttle, etc. No hurry, no worry, and ALL fun! I'm a Disney girl at heart. :)

My dream vacation, the one I will (hopefully) be taking with my mom next year, will be to Europe. Since we are limited by budget, we are planning to squeeze in Paris, Monte Carlo, Nice, Cinque Terra Italy and Milan. Spending time with my mom is always a treat but having the opportunity to do something like this would be a dream, (hopefully) come true!

Bonus: Tom Welling, Tom Sturridge, Logan Lerman, Matt Dallas

I guess I am selfish, I would go to Alaska. That is my dream vacation, and it would prep me for California with the kids.
Ben Wilder: Is it fair that I have read the book?? Unlce Matt- That is what came to my mind, when you were first dating him. :)

Tana, you came so close without reading the book. Very impressive. So here you go ... I'm entering you four times. Yippee!

Maybe your prize should be a book! :)

Jessops, take Matt with you. That's his dream too.
Lindsay, I can picture you smiling nonstop that entire two plus weeks. They might mistake you for one of the princesses though and you'd get stuck there forever.
Jessica, I'm way jealous. Can I fit in your suitcase?
Bakerfam, Alaska? Not you too! And yes, it counts that you've read the book. I want to see if the way the reader pictures him is the same as how I picture him. And of course, Matt is always the inspiration. ;)

So this is #1 for bakerfam

If I had the money, it would have to be Hawaii. Perferably in early March when I'm sick of the yuck here.

Ben Wilder must look something like M. Folkman since the creator obviously finds him attractive!!! I seem to remember reading something about ice blue eyes and dark hair- every teenage girls dream.

Lori Folkman said...

We are very like-minded bigskyboys. I'd say lets go together this March, but I think you have other plans. :)
Good memory about the ice blue eyes. Here's #1

Well, since I have little kids right now... I really would like to do a California trip with them. Disneyland, Lego Land, Sea world... hanging out at the beach. But someday... (in a different life) I would LOVE to go to Italy!

I would have to agree... I pictured someone like Matt Dallas as well.

I’d definitely want to go to the Harry Potter theme park for the movie premiere (seven days, six hours!) and then fly to Montana- no hitchhiking or riding in the back of a pickup required.

As for Ben, in addition to the dark hair and blue eyes, he has a devastatingly gorgeous smile :D

Caitlin, You're gonna have to get busy with that dream if it's going to happen in seven days, five hours! Maybe you better go play the slots.

oh my gosh ... Jessica, I almost missed yours. I didn't recognize those names, so I thought you were just talking about some European guys you were hoping to meet. (I hope your hubby doesn't read this) :) I can be so blonde sometimes.

So here's one for Tom W.
